Do you know about Wapuu?
Our Beloved mascot Wapuu is the cultural center for WordPress and is an integral part of every WordCamp since 2011. Each WordCamp has its own unique mascot Wapuu that reflect the culture and represents the city. Across WordCamps around the world, participants love to collect different pins and stickers, just one more good reason why everybody is so excited about Wapuu. I know people who keep some extra Wapuu stickers to trade for their desired ones.
Wapuu represents community
In Japan, Matt was asked why WordCamps don’t have any mascots. He challenged the local community to design a GPL-licensed design. This fun little mascot brings people together and promotes WordPress community. Below are some native Wapuu concepts.
WordCamp Ahmedabad 2018 mascot is ‘Wapuuji’
More than 600 year old walled city of Ahmedabad received the prestigious title of UNESCO World Heritage city. This is huge for us as a community and so we are leaving no stone unturned this year as well. WordCamp Ahmedabad 2018 is proud to announce our vibrant mascot as ‘Wapuuji‘. Wapuuji is thrilled to represent the rich heritage culture of Ahmedabad located on the eastern ghats of Sabarmati River.
Our beloved Wapuuji loves to learn, share, inspire and DANCE as well. Wapuuji being truly royal loves dressing up and loves classic jewelry. Have you noticed his turban? Creativity at the apex. Our team has designed and worked upon to create awesome souvenirs and T-shirts incorporating Wapuuji. Sharing with you our lovely mascots Wapuuba and Wapuubha from last year who stole the show.
Wapuuji is eagerly waiting for you all. Be sure to be there on Dec 1-2, 2018 WCAhmedabad.
