Through this talk, Nagesh would like to recall his own experience doing a small project for his ethnic community – RadioIdli.net. This was a multimedia blog that helped bring him small community together, with its people spread around the world.
The project helped Him with:
>> Learning about WordPress
>> Demonstrate his growing skills in a live project, as He learnt
>> Network and spread his contacts to a wider audience to grow his freelance practice, without a single sales pitch :), or an intrusive push.
All of this of course led him to many dream jobs, and projects including his current one at Automattic.
Nages feels , whether it is contributing to your own small community, like He did, or contributing to the WordPress Community at large, the learnings, experience and Joy of voluntary work pay off rich personal dividends in terms of career. That is the story He would like to share with dear folks at WC Ahmedabad 🙂
